Hello Tiger Band students & parents!
Welcome to your first Weekly Update for the 2010 - 2011 school year. This looks to be a very exciting season for the Tiger Marching Band with an incredible show and an awesome football team. You will receive a Weekly Update email from us usually every Thursday or Friday. This email is sent to all the email addresses you have listed on your CHARMS account. Do not reply to Weekly Update emails. The CHARMS system does not allow for replies. If you need to contact a director, use the school district email (i.e. brian_sedatole@roundrockisd.org). We hope these emails prove to be useful tools to help you stay organized. Here are your reminders for Summer Band Week #1:
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
SUMMER BAND WEEK #1
I hope you’ve taken advantage of the summer months to rest and rejuvenate and that you’re ready to work hard as we take this band to STATE! As for all Summer Band Rehearsals, please dress appropriately for HOT weather: light colored t-shirt, shorts, socks and tennis shoes (no flip flops or skater shoes, please). Bring your camelback or a large, insulated jug of water (no soda), a hat, sunglasses, and sun block (SPF 50 or higher). Bring either a sack lunch or money for fast food each day. You will also need your instrument and all of the marching music you’ve received - preferably in your flip folder. If you ordered a camelback through band registration, we are expecting those to come in soon, but please bring a water jug until they do. I know there is a conflict with Freshman Registration on Friday the 6th. Freshmen have a meeting from 8:30 - 1:00 am and then pick-up their ID’s from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. They are excused from the morning rehearsal for their meeting. In the afternoon, we ask that they return to band rehearsal as soon as they’ve taken care of their ID.
VET CLINIC FUNDRAISER
Does your dog or cat need their annual vaccinations? Well, you can get them for a discounted price and help the band as well by attending our Fall Vet Clinic on Wednesday, August 4th in front of Stony Point High School. Dr. Tarleton from the Austin Avenue Animal Hospital in Georgetown donates his time and gives the band a portion of the proceeds from this event. Please help us spread the word to your family, neighbors and co-workers about this opportunity.
ANNUAL TIGER BAND FAMILY PICNIC
Don’t miss this chance to share some food, fun and fellowship with your extended band family as we begin another successful year of the SPHS Tiger Band. The whole family is invited to this event which will feature hot dogs (generously provided by Sodexho and the Round Rock Express), games (organized by our Tiger Band officers), and other fun surprises! Please bring a side dish or dessert to share with everyone, drinks for your family, lawn chairs and a canopy, if you have one. Students will receive a flyer for this event on Monday. Please complete and return the bottom portion so we know how many people to expect. Hope to see you there!
UPCOMING FUNDRAISERS
On Monday, students will receive information about two very important fundraisers that will benefit their trip account as well as the Band Boosters. We will go over information about the Car Wash and the Applebee’s fundraisers both with the students as well as at the Booster Meeting that night. (Please remember that participation in the Car Wash is mandatory for students, regardless of whether or not they participate in the fundraiser.)
BAND REGISTRATION
We are down to less than 10 students who have not completed Band Registration. If you have not completed registration, please plan on doing so during the first week of Summer Band.
I guess that’s all for now. Just to put things into perspective, from the first day of Summer Band, we have only 25 days until our first halftime performance! Have a gr-r-r-r-reat week, Tiger Band!
