Welcome to the Band Department of Stony Point High School. The Instrumental Music (Band) Department at Stony Point High School enrolls 120 students from the 9th through 12th grades who study with a dedicated teaching faculty as well as private lesson instructors.

Christopher Sanchez

Christopher Sanchez graduated from Connally High School in 2004 and is a two-time TMEA Texas All-State Musician. Mr. Sanchez studied saxophone and music education at the University of North Texas and received his degree in 2014.

He student taught at Walsh Middle School with Russel Jones and at Round Rock High School with David Mobley. Mr. Sanchez began his teaching career at United Independent School District in Laredo, TX as the Assistant Director. He has helped many students receive state level awards and achievements, including UIL and TMEA All-State placements.

Mr. Sanchez is now the Associate Band Director at Stony Point High School in Round Rock ISD, a position he has enjoyed since 2018.

Mr. Sanchez loves spending time with his wife Fideluisa, and his two sons Asa and Eden. They also have three dogs named Shadow, Sandy and Sweetie Pie. He enjoys gardening, working on his 58’ Chevy Bel Air, playing instruments and appreciating life

Mr. Sanchez’s professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

Matt Greene

Director of Percussion: Director of All Percussion Activities - Grades 6-12, Transportation Coordinator

Matt Greene graduated from Los Fresnos High School in 1991. Mr. Greene studied percussion pedagogy with Dr. Norman Weinberg at Del Mar Junior College in Corpus Christi, TX, and with Mr. Dan Hanna at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education in 1999.

Mr. Greene began his teaching career in the Round Rock Independent School District and is currently serving in his 22nd year as Assistant Director of Bands and Director of Percussion at Stony Point High School.

Mr. Greene’s professional affiliations include the Percussive Arts Society, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and the Texas Music Educators Association.

Louie Flores

Mr. Flores is originally from San Diego, CA where he started teaching in the Fall of 2003 at Montgomery High School, and graduated in 2004. Mr. Flores has instructed many programs including Vista Murrieta HS, Mt. Carmel HS, El Dorado HS, Mira Mesa HS and Eastlake HS.

In 2015, Mr. Flores started teaching in Austin, TX and has directed at Rouse HS and Manor HS and is currently a choreographer at Westwood HS. Mr. Flores participated in DCI and WGI from 2002-2006 where he marched Esperanza Drum Corps, Esperanza De Luz, Blue Devils, Fantasia and Corona, winning DCI World Championships and High Color Guard, as well as 2 WGI World Championships.

Mr. Flores joined the Stony Point band staff in 2019 where he started with 2 students in the program and has grown every year since. Mr. Flores is excited for the future of the program!
